Medicare

Helping You Navigate With Clarity and Confidence

Understanding Medicare is crucial for securing the healthcare coverage that aligns with your retirement needs. At Voyage Retirement, we're dedicated to demystifying Medicare for you, offering expert guidance to help you navigate the various parts, plans, and supplemental coverage options.

Where Do You Start?

Medicare planning can help you avoid penalties and get the most out of your benefits. To get started, you need to know that the only parts of Medicare you will enroll in via the Social Security office is your Original Medicare Parts A & B. All other Parts and supplemental coverage enrollments are done outside of that, through an insurance agent. That’s where we come in.

We've put together a quick checklist to help you get started:

  1. Confirm you are eligible for Medicare.

  2. Read about Medicare costs so that you can be prepared for what you will pay.

  3. Apply for Medicare at your local Social Security office or online. We can also help walk you through this step.

  4. Receive and verify your red, white and blue Medicare ID card. Does it show you are enrolled in both Part A and Part B like this example?

  5. Read about your coverage options below: Medicare Advantage or Original Medicare with supplemental insurance coverage.

  6. Review your coverage annually to make sure you are getting the most appropriate insurance at the right price. Get someone on your side by working with an insurance agency like us. Our help is free and we are always available for your questions. You can either register for one of our complimentary webinars or meeting with us one-on-one. Call us or book online today.

Explore Your Medicare Options

Whether you’re looking into Medicare for the first time, or taking advantage of open enrollment to update your strategy, you have options and we’re here to help you decide.

STEP 1: Enroll In Original Medicare

Original Medicare is provided by the government. Part A covers hospital stays while Part B covers doctor and outpatient visits.

STEP 2: Determine Which Option Is Appropriate For You

OPTION 1

Add one or both of the following to Original Medicare:

Medicare Supplemental Insurance

Offered by private insurance companies, covers some of the costs not paid by Original Medicare Parts A & B. Medicare Supplements, also known as Medigap policies, are designed to fill in the gaps of standard Medicare.

Medicare Part D

Also known as Prescription Drug Plans, this coverage (provided by private companies) may lower prescription drug costs and help protect against higher costs in the future. If you join a Medicare drug plan, you usually pay a monthly premium.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you decide to delay taking Part D, you may incur a late enrollment penalty.

OPTION 2

Choose a Medicare Advantage Plan (aka Part C)

Medicare Part C

These are health plan options approved by Medicare and run by insurance companies. These plans often have $0 or low premiums and copays for services. There is usually a network of doctors and hospitals that must be used for covered services.

Combines Part A (hospital) and Part B (doctor visits), and often Part D (prescription drugs). It may also cover additional services like dental, vision, and wellness programs.
